BET recently suspended a producer after a joke about Beyoncé and Jay Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy, aired on the network’s video countdown show 106 & Park. Blue Ivy is a 2-year-old who wears an Afro—and rocks it well. She was the talk of the Internet after joining her mother and father on stage Sunday as Beyoncé won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the MTV Video Music Awards. Blue Ivy clapped for her mom and danced in the audience while her mom performed . . .

Beyoncé’s sample, using audio from ’86 Challenger tragedy, slammed as ‘insensitive’

Grammy award-winning singer Beyoncé has been slammed as “insensitive” by NASA astronauts and families for using an audio sample that described the 1986 space shuttle Challenger tragedy .

NASA public affairs officer Steve Nesbitt’s voice stating, “Flight controllers here looking very carefully at the situation. Obviously a major malfunction,” is heard at the beginning of the song “XO” before it segues into pop lyrics about relationships…

UPDATE – Jan. 24, 2013, 2:51 a.m., PT

On Weds., Jan. 23, CNN reported an inaugural official who prefers to remain anonymous said Beyonce “did not sing live” and a pre-recorded version of “The Star Spangled Banner” was played instead. Viewers and inaugural attendees heard the sound of that recording, according to the official . . .
