The Rev. Frank Schaefer, a Pennsylvania Methodist minister, who was defrocked after solemnizing his son’s same-sex wedding, won an appeal Monday to have his credentials reinstated.
Schaefer, 52, was suspended for 30 days, six months ago, on Nov. 18 after a jury of United Methodist Church pastors found him guilty of violating church law, outlined in the UMC Book of Discipline. After the suspension ended, he was defrocked for refusing to vow he would never perform another same-sex marriage ceremony . . .
