Hewlett-Packard to cut thousands of jobs

Hewlett-Packard, a Palo Alto technology corporation, stated in an SEC regulatory filing Monday that a total of 34,000 positions will be eliminated by the end of Oct. 2014. This is 5,000 more than the expected 29,000, and 11 percent of HP’s workforce.

The company had announced in May 2012 that 27,000 jobs would be eliminated by Oct. 31, 2014, the end of its fiscal year, but revised the number to 29,000. In Oct. 2013, company officials said the actual numbers would be on the “high end”…
