Boston gangster, James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, sentenced to 2 life sentences plus 5 years

James “Whitey” Bulger, 84, was sentenced to two life sentences, plus five years Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge, Denise A. Casper. She read each name of Bulger’s murder victims and also ordered him to pay $19.5 million in restitution to the families of the victims.

On Aug. 12 after a two-month trial, a jury deliberated for five days and found him guilty of participating in 11 murders and 31 counts, including drug offenses, racketeering, extortion and other crimes. He was found not guilty of 7 murders and a verdict could not be reached on 1 murder . . .
